Is it okay to still be wishing people a Happy New Year in February? We only have 11 months left of 2017, but then again we have a full year of the
Chinese calendar and the Year of the Rooster. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed a lovely break over the holiday season and are feeling refreshed and excited
about the year ahead.
I love the start of a New Year! It is a wonderful time for setting new goals and developing plans to help achieve the goals. At MS Auckland we will be continuing to provide our popular core services with Field Workers, hydrotherapy classes, wellness workshops and coffee groups, while also exploring new and interesting things to offer and ways in which we can do things better. Each month now we will send out an e-newsletter to let you know what’s coming up and what’s new.
We hope you are able to join us at some of our activities. Please feel free to share this newsletter.
In this issue:
1. Wellness Workshop on Mindfulness - 25 February
2. Clash of the Hemispheres – Grand fundraising event for 2017 – Calling all businesses!
3. MS Magazine stories – contributions wanted
4. Help wanted
5. Dates for your diary
1. Wellness Workshop - Mindfulness
Mindfulness facilitator, Glenda Irwin, will be running a 90 minute introduction session on the concept and practice of Mindfulness. This is a fascinating topic and we are sure that it will be a popular workshop. Details are:
Date: Saturday 25 February
Time: 10:00am for light morning tea
start 10:30am - 12 noon finish
Place: Commerce Club of Auckland
27-33 Ohinerau Street, Remuera
To register or for more information please phone 09 845 5921 or e-mail us on email@example.com.
2. Clash of the Hemispheres – 6 June 2017
We will be providing lots of news each month about our big charity dinner and auction event on 6 June 2017 at Eden Park. This will be a grand event featuring the hilarious Jeremy Corbett as MC. Well-known rugby enthusiasts, including our very special Sir Graham Henry, will entertain us with a battle of wits to determine who really is the best at rugby – the northern or the southern hemisphere?
Early bird tables are still available at $2700 for a table of 10. They can be booked by contacting the office on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are a business with something to offer the event in the way of Auction Items or sponsorship, we would love to hear from you. Please contact
Ingrid at Ingrid@msakl.org.nz or Nina on email@example.com.
3. MS Magazine – contributions wanted
We are keen to hear your stories of things you have done, or things you have achieved, or just about your life journey with MS. Every quarter we look
for an interesting story to publish in our magazine, Multiple News. The next magazine comes out in March. If you have a story you would like to
submit, please send it, along with a photo or two, to me at Ingrid@msakl.org.nz.
4. Help wanted – families for an MS documentary
We have been approached by a woman in Whenuapai whose daughter has MS for some help with a project that she would like to carry out. She would like to make a documentary showing ordinary people living with MS. She has 2 families for the documentary and would like to have 2 more. The focus of the documentary will be more on families of the people with MS. This is a completely voluntary project. They hope to show the documentary as widely as possible (through the internet and, if possible, TV) to raise awareness of MS and support people with MS and their families.
For more information please contact Anagha on firstname.lastname@example.org on 022 5155 519.
