e-newsletter December 2016

e-newsletter December 2016

Where has the year gone?! 12 months ago I was just starting with MS Auckland. December 2015 was spent meeting so many of the lovely people that are part of the MS community, and coming to grips with the work that lay ahead for us. It’s been a wonderful year!

This e-news & events issue will be our final one for 2016. We hope that there will be a few things here that will be of interest to you.

In this issue:

1. Awareness Video #3

2. Clash of the Hemispheres – Grand fundraising event for 2017 – Calling all businesses!

3. Access4All – Accommodation and Activity Guide

5. Zinger Chair

6. Christmas hours

1. Awareness Video #3

This is the final of the 3 part Awareness Videos for 2016. It focuses on Julie and the support she has around her as she learns to live with her MS without letting her MS define her. It’s beautiful and moving. Please watch and share this with your friends.

2. Clash of the Hemispheres – 6 June 2017

Our big event in 2017 will be a Charity dinner/Auction on 6 June 2017 at Eden Park.

This will be a grand event featuring the hilarious Jeremy Corbett as MC and many well-known rugby enthusiasts, including our very special Sir Graham Henry.

If you are a business with something to offer the event in the way of Auction Items or sponsorship, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Ingrid at Ingrid@msakl.org.nz or Nina on bigday@xtra.co.nz.

Early Bird tables at $2700 for a table of 10, are also still available to be booked by contacting the office on events@msakl.org.nz.

3. Access4All – Accommodation and Activity Guide

Access4all is an accommodation and activity guide intended for use by anyone with mild to major mobility difficulties, and an undiminished desire to travel. It has listings of motels, apartments, holiday parks and activities in most of the major NZ destinations. More are being added all the time. Every property listed includes an option of 1 or 2-bedroom accommodation for travellers with family members and/or caregivers

It is a graphic guide - its aim above all is to give impaired mobility vacationers confidence by showing what need to know places (especially bathrooms, entrance areas, bedrooms, surroundings) and activities are like. When people using the guide find what suits, bookings can be made directly from the site. Have a look… www.access4all.co.nz

4. Zinger Chair

The Zinger Chair is a recent entrant on the New Zealand scene and Montec Mobility is proud to be the Zinger Chair specialist in New Zealand. This enables them to personally ensure that the Zinger Chair will be ‘Fit for Purpose’ and that a perspective user is able to adjust to the different driving method used. The Zinger Chair is USA designed and is very professionally built by a reputable manufacturer in Taiwan. It comes with a Twelve Month manufacturer’s warranty. After sales service will be supplied by Montec Mobility.

As the Zinger Chair is not suitable for everyone Paul from Montec Mobility can quickly ascertain this aspect with you by a quick phone call and a demonstration visit. If you are interested in finding out more please view their website www.zingerchair.nz or contact Paul directly paul@zingerchair.nz or 0800 466 626.

5. Christmas hours

The office will now close at 5pm on Thursday the 22nd of December and reopen on Monday 16 January.
