Welcome to our August e-news & events.
Are you keeping warm? I can’t remember the last time I felt this cold. Perhaps it was last winter! Spring is just around the corner though. I’m dreaming of lambs, daffodils, longer days, warmer nights and looking forward to a change of seasons.

1. Street Appeal Collectors Urgently Needed – Friday September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd
We are still in urgent need of more volunteers to give even just 2 hours on the 2nd or 3rd of September to help with our street collection. If you can’t help with the collection then perhaps there are other ways in which you might like to help out?
Please phone Kirsty at the office on 09 845 5921, or e-mail Francesca at firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information on how you can help, or to volunteer.
2. Win Warrior tickets for Father’s Day
One of our major sponsors, Fidelity Life, have given us 4 tickets to the Warriors Game on Sunday September 4th– which just happens to be Father’s Day. The Warriors take on the Eels. It is sure to be a great game and you will see it all from the Fidelity Life Corporate box seats. To be in to win simply make a pledge to MS Auckland, directly into our bank account with reference of your name and Warriors and send your name and contact details to Kirsty at email@example.com. You can only enter once and every pledge no matter how big or small will go into the draw for the tickets. We will be announcing the winners on Tuesday 16 August at 4pm. Be in quick! Our bank account details are: 12 3047 0088939 00.
We also have second and third prizes to give away of Gary’s new book – ‘The Pacific Affair’. The book has just recently been published and is the first of a trilogy. The main character in the book has MS. ‘The Pacific Affair’ is also being adapted for film.
3. Bike the Bridge – Sunday 13th November
Get out your bikes and prepare for the very popular Bike the Bridge event this year. MS is the named charity for Bike the Bridge and we will be working closely alongside the event founder, Callum McNair for another memorable event.
Only once a year 4,000 lucky people can bike across our iconic North Harbour Bridge! You need to be 11 to bike over the Harbour Bridge, but there will be something for everyone on the day, with 4 different event options:
Bike the Bridge Round Trip (22km) – cross the bridge twice!
Bike the Bridge South Only (7km)
Bike the Bridge North Only (15km)
Bike the Busway Family Loop (4km loop) - suitable for younger members of the family
Bring the whole family! It is sure to be another fun and unforgettable event!
We will be posting more information on our website and facebook over the next 13 weeks as we count down to the day. But you can also go directly to the Bike the Bridge site for more information and to register. You can also follow them on facebook.
4. Meditation and Yin Workshop – Sunday 14th August 1:00 – 3:00
We still have a few spaces left for this very special 2 hour meditation and yin yoga workshop. The cost is just $5 for members. It will combine mindfulness meditation with gentle yin yoga. Fiona, a highly experienced and sought after yoga guide, will be leading the class. It is important that participants are able to sit on the floor for this class, either on a mat or on cushions. It will be held at the Om Yoga Studio, Shop 16, Stonefield’s Market, 40 Stonefield Avenue, Stonefields.
Book today to avoid disappointment - either by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone: 845 5921.
5. ‘The Pacific Affair’ – by Gary Stephenson
We are selling copies of ‘The Pacific Affair’ through our office for $30, with Gary generously donating the profit from each book back to MS Auckland. E-mail us at email@example.com if you would like to buy a copy.
6. New MS videos
