Personal Perspective: Sarah

Sarah (not her real name) had excelled at a sport that demanded fine motor co-ordination. When she found herself losing her ability, family and friends thought her lack of success, and growing clumsiness, were "neurotic."

Knowing that one has MS can have its advantages.

I experienced tremendous relief when I was diagnosed MS. At last there was an explanation for my reduced stamina and co-ordination. At last it was confirmed that my symptoms were more than psychosomatic.

Now there is no need to push myself beyond my natural physical capabilities. I have good reason to pace myself according to the way I feel at the time.

As a consequence, I feel better than I did for several years before the diagnosis.
