I have recently joined the staff of MS Auckland Region as a Field Worker for the South Auckland area.

I am married and have two grown up daughters, who are also married and have given my husband and I five grandchildren between them, two of whom are twins! So my work as a Nana is cut out for me!

My husband and I lived in Napier for 30 years and raised our daughters there before moving up to Auckland eight years ago.

I have a background in nursing and have worked in some capacity in the medical field most of my working life. I am enjoying getting to know South Auckland and the MS folk that live there.

Georga has worked as an MS Field Worker since January 2005 providing information, support and friendship to people with MS and their families. She originally started out in nursing many years ago in Australia where she originates from.

After her big OE, travelling and working overseas as a live-in-carer for many years, she decided to call Auckland home. She initially worked in Amenity Horticulture throughout Waitakere City, enjoying the outdoors and being surrounded by plants and nature. After a friend was diagnosed with MS her interest turned to supporting people with MS and she is happy to be working in the West Auckland area where she lives.

Hullo Everyone! I am an energetic, community minded person and live in a semi rural setting with Siberian Huskies and other animals. I have had plenty of life experience in my career, as well as with children and now grandchildren.

My professional background is as a Registered Nurse working in rehabilitation and elder care. I have worked in the community, acute hospital and long term care settings and over my career have provided care and support to people with MS and their carers.

I believe my role as a Field Worker is to give support and information to people with MS and their families/whanau to enable them to make informed choices about the management of their MS and remain as independent as possible living a full and meaningful life.

As an RN I am a practical person, have worked extensively with other health professionals and see it as vital to link into other agencies and health services to provide an optimum service to our clients. I look forward to meeting people with MS and their families individually and through our various groups and social activities.

Hi folks! I want to share a little bit about who I am in relation to my role as a Field Worker. I am a creative person with a wide range of life skills and have a grown up family. I have been with the North Shore MS Society now for ten years and really enjoy the variety of challenges that present in a working day.

I worked in the community as an Occupational Therapist for approximately 20 years and experienced a wide variety of people and medical conditions, among which were people who had Multiple Sclerosis.

The emphasis was certainly on promoting a can do philosophy, which is one of the key ways I view my role as a Field Worker. In order to make the adjustment with the condition of MS, people often require the need for information and support, enabling them to believe in themselves again and to reset goals. This is something I feel I can assist people to do.

My experience as an OT also enables me to understand the practical difficulties people with MS can have and to make appropriate referrals to health professionals. I feel I offer a professional and friendly approach, which is important in maintaining constructive ongoing connections with the members of this Society and the wider community.
